Meet Susan Dippre, Colonial Williamsburg Landscape Supervisor
Colonial Williamsburg's landscape duties are not a "put it up and forget about it" exercise. Meticulous attention to detail and 18th-century authenticity make Susan and her talented staff's job an exciting challenge. A native Virginian, Susan set roots in Williamsburg almost 30 years ago and her perennial passion continues to bloom throughout the Historic Area's more than 100 renowned gardens.
The Splendor And Magic Of Our Historic Area Gardens
"Part of Colonial Williamsburg's magic and splendor is found in our world-renowned gardens—a stunning collection of 18th-century plants, both American natives and those brought here by the colonists. The palette is relatively small in comparison with the wide range of plants available today, and our challenge is to use this small selection to re-create Williamsburg of centuries ago."
